She was born and brought up in Thika by a single mother. When she was 3 years old, she started falling sick now and then. According to her, she could develop dishes on her back.
She was taken to hospital but since she was still young to understand what was happening, she was given some drugs which she used to take daily.
Unfortunately, her mother died when she was still very young. Her aunt took the role of raising her and told her what was ailing her when she was big enough to understand.
After completing her secondary school education, a guy approached her but she told him that she was HIV Positive. When they visited the vct centre and confirmed that it was true, the guy went Mute.
She felt rejected and vowed not to disclose her status to any man who would be interested in her. She moved to another town where another man approached her. She asked him to visit a vct centre to know their status but the man claimed that he was okay.
All she did was pray that she wouldn’t infect him and take her drugs religiously. She made sure she hid her drugs and would take them while hiding from her husband. She stayed in that marriage for 5 years and gave birth to two kids who are HIV-negative.
According to her, she didn’t infect her husband because he never felt sick. She left when he started abusing drugs and attacking her physically.
