Several weeks before the presidential election, Olaiya garnered attention when he went to the beach naked to offer prayers for Tinubu’s success in the election. The actor faced severe criticism, with many deeming his action inappropriate for someone respected in the entertainment industry.
On February 5 of this year, he released a video apologizing to those offended by his action, explaining that he did it as a gesture of gratitude to Tinubu for supporting him during an illness. Despite the apology, in a recent interview, Olaiya reiterated that he does not regret his campaign for Tinubu.
“Some people claim my apology for going to the beach meant that I regret campaigning for Tinubu. I do not regret campaigning for Tinubu. If I have another opportunity to do things to help Tinubu win the election again for the betterment of this country, I will do it. I do not regret it at all.”
