Recall that the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN directed the banks to implement the use of Bank Verification Numbers (BVN) and National Identity Numbers (NIN) for all bank transactions starting from March 1, 2024.

In line with that, the various banks in Nigeria have asked their customers to ensure that customers Biometric Verification Number (BVN) and National Identification Number (NIN) are linked to their account number on or before 29 February 2024.

If the phone number linked to your bank account is the number you used for your BVN and NIN registration, then rest assured that they are linked to your bank account.

You can seamlessly update your account information with your BVN and NIN by visiting any of your bank branches close to you.

Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) through its circular: PSM/DIR/PUB/CIR/001/053 dated 01 December 2023, has directed that effective, 01 March 2024, all funded accounts without BVN shall be placed on ‘Post No Debit or Credit’ and no further transactions permitted.
