Veteran actor, Jide Kosoko has sounded a note of warning to peddlers of drugs, soft drinks, energy drinks, bitters or other drugs said to cure diabetes or high blood pressure. According to the celebrated actor, who posted a photograph of himself in a green khaki uniform, the only drug he approves of is water. He further urged Nigerians to consult a professional before taking any form of medication.
“Enough… Enough of this general sickness of continuous abuse of drugs. As I resume today as the new chairman of NDEAL, The following are hereby banned. No more use of Karaole, Alabukun, phensic, paracetamol, or cafenol. In fact, all painstaking drugs, all soft drinks, energy drinks, man power or bitters, no more diabetic or high blood pressure drugs.
“The only drug hereby recommended and approved by me is water. But if you like yourself, consult your doctor. I may allow only you to use whatever you want. consult your doctor if he is not on hard drugs. I just say I should warn o,” the actor wrote.
Prince Jide Kosoko studied business administration at the Yaba College of Technology. He began acting as a child actor in 1964 in a television production named ‘Makanjuola’. He has featured in several Nollywood movies in both English and Yoruba languages.
Kosoko grew up in Ebute Metta and was driven into acting by the success of Hubert Ogunde when an acquaintance who was working with the Ifelodun travelling theatre troupe invited him to an audition for a role in Makanjuola, a telemovie.
The veteran actor performed with the Awada Kerikeri group consisting of Sunday Omobolanle, Lanre Hassan, and Oga Bello, and had guest appearances on the T.V. show, ‘New Masquerade’.
