JUST IN: Committee On New Minimum Wage In Closed-door Meeting

The tripartite committee responsible for setting a new national minimum wage is currently meeting in Abuja. This marks the fifth gathering since organized labor suspended its industrial action. The closed-door meeting is taking place at the Nicon Luxury Hotel and includes key committee members: the Director General of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), the Minister of Labour and Employment (State) Nkiruka Onyejeocha, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, a representative from the Salaries, Income, and Wages Commission, Minister of Finance Wale Edun, and Minister of Budget and National Planning Atiku Bagudu.....Read The Full Story Here ▶

During Thursday’s session, committee members expressed optimism that a decision on the new minimum wage figure could be reached by Friday.

This series of meetings follows the temporary suspension of industrial action by organized labor, which allowed the committee additional time to finalize their negotiations and present a proposal to the National Assembly.
