The incident was said to have happened on Sunday at Emouha Junction, East/West Road in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

The officer and his colleagues were not in approved uniforms but they were armed.

Reacting to the development, the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Okon Effiong, had ordered their immediate arrest.

On Tuesday, the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, had identified the three police officers involved in the unprofessional actions and said that “They reported at the Force Headquarters today. Trial will soon commence. We will update you as soon as possible.”

Adejobi further said that he asked them why they dropped their uniform as seen in the video, and noted that it was obvious that many police officers did what they did, thinking they would not be caught.

To this end, Adejobi questioned why they were in T-shirts and therefore said that charges against them would surely include improper dressing.

“I asked them why they dropped the uniform we saw in the video. It’s obvious that many of them outside do what they do because they think they won’t be caught. And we want to encourage our officers and their heads to always due diligence to supervision and regular lectures.
