This achievement places him as a contender for the top position among high scorers even though the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board’s Registrar, Professor Isaq Oloyede, had previously made clear the Board’s decision not to publish the top scorer results in order to avoid confusion amongst candidates and parents. Despite the Board’s decision, Olukayode’s result is, undoubtedly, praiseworthy and ranks among the highest scores in recent times.
It is important to note that Olukayode’s astounding performance came in stark contrast to the poor overall performance of candidates who had taken the exam; over 1.4 million candidates out of 1.8 million scored below 200 marks out of a possible 400. Furthermore, this achievement stands out in a time where confidence in public schools is waning whilst some private schools claim to be the most expensive in the country.
If all goes well, Olukayode, born in 2009, aspires to pursue his studies in Electrical Electronic discipline at the University of Ilorin located in Kwara State. While giving credit to God, his mother, Beatrice Tosin, lauds and acknowledges her child’s diligence and studious disposition which culminated in the impressive outcome.
