Presidential aide, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed has reacted to the recent attack on Northern elders by the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle....CONTINUE READING

The Minister had earlier blasted the Northern elders for threatening that the region would not vote for Tinubu in 2027.

He had said that the elders lacked the authority to speak for the entire region, stressing that the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) has become a political burden on the region.

Baba-Ahmed who is the Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and former spokesperson of the forum said the minister’s comments were ill-advised.

The Presidential aide who made his reaction known via his X handle @baba_hakeem said the Minister would have done better in his defence of the Tinubu-led administration.

He said: “Scathing criticism of NEF by the junior minister of defence, Matawalle, is ill-advised. He could have done a better job for this admin if he identified contributions of especially northern ministers and other appointees like me to improving security and reducing poverty in the North.”
