Several people believe that condoms and contraceptive pills have fueled the rate at which people now commonise sex because they can easily get away with their actions. The contraceptive pill called Postinor 2 is a pill that is known to many youths today.

Because of the effect of this pill, many girls jump into the sex pool without a second thought. But before making use of this pill, it is important to know how to use it, its effect, and how it works.

Postinor-2 is a widely used emergency contraceptive pill used to prevent pregnancy after birth control failures such as broken condoms or unprotected sex. It is a single-dose pill which has a combination of two hormones called levonorgestrel and ethinyl estradiol. It is used to prevent pregnancy after unprotected intercourse and can be taken up to 72 hours after the act.

It is not recommended for regular use, and it is not a form of abortion. Postinor-2 does not prevent sexually transmitted diseases from one sexual partner to another and it also does not terminate an existing pregnancy.

Postinor-2, also known as a morning-after pill, is used for preventing pregnancy after having unprotected sex. The prevention of pregnancy is its primary purpose and so far it has been living up to expectations. However, this contraceptive pill does not properly work for some ladies.

So, it pays to know and understand your body.

Like all medications, Postinor-2 may cause side effects. The most common side effects include nausea, vomiting, dizziness, headache, and breast tenderness. If these symptoms occur, contact your doctor immediately.

Other less common side effects include abdominal pain, pelvic pain, and changes in the menstrual cycle.

It is imperative to consult your doctor before you take this drug because you do not know if it will have any side effects on you. It is sad that many ladies administer the pill themselves and forget that it can have side effects on them.

The use of Postinor-2 has increased because it is an oral contraceptive that is easily accessible. In most countries like Nigeria where abortion is illegal, many people have turned to this drug to help prevent any form of pregnancy. The rate at which the use of Postinor-2 has increased can be tied to the high effectiveness of the drug. This pill does what it was made for.

Postinor-2 is available in Nigeria at a relatively affordable price. The exact price varies from one pharmacy to another, but it typically costs around N500 to N1500. It is better to buy the medication from a certified pharmacist.

Many people ask if they need to take a whole new dose of Postinor 2 (or morning-after pill) if they have unprotected sex again after they have already taken a dose. It is important to know that the medication lasts for around five days (or 120 hours) in the body before they are excreted by the liver and kidneys.

However, this does not mean that the Postinor 2 pill taken on a particular day will cover a person for any further unprotected intercourse that could happen within that time frame. If someone is sexually active, it is said that they take a new dose of the contraceptive whenever they have unprotected sex.

However, sexually active women seeking detailed answers to this question are best referred to see a medical doctor for further explanation and guidance.

Pregnancy is an exciting time for many women, but it is also a time that can bring with it a lot of questions and uncertainty. One question that many women have is: “Can I get pregnant after taking Postinor-2?” The answer, unfortunately, is a bit complicated.

In most cases, Postinor-2 is very effective at preventing pregnancy, but it is not 100 per cent foolproof. It is estimated that Postinor-2 will prevent pregnancy in 95 per cent of women who take it correctly and within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse. It is important to note that the sooner Postinor-2 is taken, the more effective it is.

However, if you have unprotected intercourse and then take Postinor-2, it can still be possible to become pregnant. This is because the pill cannot stop a pregnancy that has already occurred. If a woman has already ovulated and an egg has been released, Postinor-2 will not be able to stop the egg from being fertilised by sperm. If you take Postinor-2 and then have unprotected intercourse again, you could become pregnant if the first dose of Postinor-2 was not effective. This is because the hormones in the pill only last for a certain amount of time, and if you have unprotected intercourse after the effects have worn off, you could still become pregnant.

You could still get pregnant even after taking Postinor-2. So, it is essential to use other forms of birth control such as condoms or birth control pills to prevent pregnancy.

For maximum effectiveness, take Postinor 2 immediately after unprotected sexual intercourse. Each pack of Postinor 2 contains two pills. It is essential to take one pill as soon as possible after intercourse. Make sure to wait 12 hours before taking the second pill.

If the 12-hour mark falls at midnight, set an alarm to remind you to take the pill. It is still effective to take Postinor 2 up to 24 hours after intercourse, although its effectiveness decreases with time. When taken within 24 hours, it is 95 per cent effective in preventing pregnancy, whereas, between 48-72 hours, its effectiveness reduces to 58 per cent. If you vomit within three hours of taking Postinor 2, another pill may need to be taken.

The bottom line is if you are not prepared to have a child mentally, financially and in every area, then abstain from sexual activities until you are ready. Abstinence will help you prevent getting pregnant. Even the use of a condom is not 100 per cent sure, just like Postinor-2.

So always go in with a clear head and a shoulder strong enough to beat the consequences of your action, whatever the outcome….CONTINUE READING
