VP Shettima arrives Yobe for Late Emir of Ngazargamu’s burial [PHOTOS]

Vice President Kashim Shettima on Friday, June 12, 2026, arrived in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital, for the burial of the late Emir of Ngazargamu, His Royal Highness Alhaji Ahmad Tijjani Ibn Saleh Geidam.

Shettima joined thousands of mourners at the funeral of the revered traditional ruler, who died in Cairo, Egypt, on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, after a protracted illness.

According to Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media and Publicity, Shettima was received on arrival by Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni and members of the State Executive Council.

The 80-year-old monarch, widely regarded as a respected custodian of the historic Kanem-Bornu Empire, will be remembered for his legacy of peace, humility, wisdom, and decades of exemplary public service.

“The delegation that accompanied the Vice President included: Amb. Babagana Kingibe, Sen. K. S. Lawan (SAN), Sen. Mohammed Danjuma Goje, Sen. Mohammed Bomai, Sen. Mustapha Musa, Arc. Ibrahim Bunu, Hon. Tijjani Zanna Zakariya, Hon. Usman Zanna, and Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori,” Nkwocha noted.
