In an interview on Symfoni TV on Monday, November 2, 2026, Anabs Sara-Igbe, a Niger Delta activist and prominent political leader from Rivers State, criticised the political activities of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and former governor of Rivers State.
Sara-Igbe made allegations concerning campaign posters belonging to Dumu Lulu-Briggs, the governorship candidate of the New Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Rivers State. He claimed that the candidate’s posters had been prominently displayed around the airport before people were allegedly paid to remove them.
Speaking during the interview, Sara-Igbe stated, “Go to the airport; Dumu Lulu-Briggs’ poster was prominent, but you paid people to tear it down.” He made the allegation while discussing the political activities and influence of Wike in Rivers State.
The activist’s comments raised questions about the treatment of opposition candidates and their campaign materials in the state. His remarks suggested that political competition should allow different parties and candidates to promote their programmes without interference.
Dumu Lulu-Briggs is seeking the governorship of Rivers State under the NDC ahead of the 2027 general election. His campaign activities form part of the wider political contest expected to involve several parties and prominent political figures.
Sara-Igbe’s criticism also comes amid disagreements over Wike’s influence in Rivers politics and his relationship with Governor Siminalayi Fubara. The disagreements have continued to attract attention as political actors position themselves ahead of the next election.
He concluded that political candidates in Rivers State should be allowed to campaign freely and present themselves to voters without alleged attempts to undermine their visibility.
