Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has announced plans to establish a judicial panel of inquiry to investigate the governance of the state prior to his assumption of office. In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Governor Fubara stated that there were numerous legal matters that needed to be addressed with bravery and courage.
Governor Fubara emphasized the importance of the judicial panel of inquiry in investigating the affairs of governance. He urged Mr. Iboroma to defend the state and expressed confidence in his ability to do so.
The governor also acknowledged that the political crisis in the state could not be resolved internally and that it was necessary to move forward. He expressed satisfaction with the well-constituted state House of Assembly and the appointment of a seasoned lawyer as the Attorney-General.
Governor Fubara criticized the former Attorney-General, Prof. Zaccheaus Adangor, for sabotaging the administration he served.
He commended Mr. Iboroma for being a thorough lawyer and earning his appointment as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). The governor dismissed claims that his elevation to the position of governor was a mistake and asserted that God does not make mistakes when elevating individuals.
The confirmation of Mr. Iboroma as a commissioner and member of the Rivers State Executive Council by the pro-Fubara faction of the Rivers House of Assembly was also highlighted. The factional Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Victor Oko-Jumbo, expressed gratitude to the governor for providing an alternative venue for legislative sittings after the state assembly chamber was destroyed by fire. The temporary chamber was located at the administrative block of the government house.
