BREAKING: ABS Festival of Nine Lessons Ekweozor Honoured As “Ide ABS”

He received the award at the 2023 annual ABS Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols and had among other financial supports, donated a Sienna car to the station in April, 2022.

Speaking after he received the award, Dr Ekweozor, promised to continue supporting ABS, just as he called on Ndi Anambra to also give support to the station.

He thanked Governor Chukwuma Soludo, for his efforts in repositioning Anambra State thereby making it a livable homeland, calling on Ndi Anambra to come back home and invest.

Held at Oma Event Centre in Awka, the Christmas fiesta attracted many dignitaries, including government functionaries, members of Anambra state House of Assembly and captains of industry; who gathered to witness the time when Jesus Christ, was revered in different languages in the reading of the lessons and in the singing of the carols.

The first lesson was taken in English language by the Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Sir Paul Nwosu, followed by an English carol by students of Austica Memorial Secondary School Nanka, while the second lesson was read by the Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Somtochukwu Udeze, represented by the member representing Ihiala Constituency One Mr Golden Iloh.

Other lessons were read in Pidgin English, Yoruba, Hausa, Efik, Urhobo and Igbo languages, followed by carols in the same languages.

The reading of lessons was summed up with the ninth lesson read by the Managing Director of the ABS, Sir Chido Obidiegwu, after which Heartbeat, ABS chorale group, took over the stage to render scintillating songs.

Earlier in an opening speech, the Commissioner for Information, Sir Paul Nwosu, who noted that this year’s ABS Christmas fiesta is different; as it allowed youngsters to participate actively, thanked Governor Soludo for providing the enabling environment that guarantees safe atmosphere for people to enjoy the yuletide.

The Chairman on the occasion and a one-time Commissioner for Information and Culture, in Anambra State Chief Maja Umeh, commended ABS for organizing the event where illustrious sons and daughters of the state were recognized for their contributions to the growth of the state and ABS in particular.

Present and past members of ABS Boards of Management and Directors, traditional rulers, including that of Umuawulu, Igwe Joel Egwuonwu, his Nise counterpart, Igwe Romanus Iloh, and that of Alor, Igwe Mac-Anthony Okonkwo, and other friends of the ABS attended the event.
