Remember that a Nigerian by name Vennitta Akpofure who is a reality TV star and presently on the big brother Naija show had made unwelcomed statements against the Tiv people, when she said for the first time that a Tiv man offers his wife to visitors. She received a mild back lash, but when she repeated it for the second time, a full fledged war was declared upon her.
This was tantamount to a barrage of lawsuits been filed against her in particular and the big brother Naija show in general. At first, the organisers of the show had appeared to pay deaf ear to the complaints but as the lawsuits continued to come in from different quarters, the organisers bowed to the pressure and reacted accordingly.
As a result, John Ugbe who is the CEO of multi choice Nigeria who are the organisers of big brother Naija communicated through his Instagram page yesterday, in a 20 seconds video which he posted in the evening of yesterday. The entertainment mogul said” the big brother Naija show was put together without an ounce of an intention to slander nobody, not even a tribe. What happened was rather unfortunate. The words of one of our housemates have caused us a lot of setbacks. One, our viewership has reduced from the Benue axis and second is that, too many lawsuits have been filed and sent to us. We can not allow a single bad yam to destroy our collective interest, and so we have decided that, Venitta Akpofure will be made to leave the show this weekend in order for peace to rain”
