The singer made this known in DrinkChamps podcast with Revolt, where he talked about his music, family, marriage, and career.

Davido was asked how he was born in Atlanta. He said that his late grandfather facilitated his being born in the city.

According to him, his granddad, who was a Nigerian senator liked taking his children to the United States, precisely Atlanta. And that’s how his dad made it to a University in Kentucky for his studies.

He continued, noting that his dad and late mom first met in London, adding that his mom is from Edo State, the southern part of Nigeria. He further disclosed that his grandmother is from the Igbo tribe. So, the “Over Dem” crooner said his root traces back to Yoruba, Igbo, and Edo.

Davido also has it to say that America has always been a thing for his family.

His words read, “My grandfather was a senator. So, he liked sending most of his kids to America. My dad went to University in Kentucky.

“My dad and my mom actually first met in London. So then, my mom is from South South part of Nigeria, a place called Edo State. My dad is Yoruba, so I’m from the two different tribes, actually like three. So, I’m Igbo, my grandma is Igbo.

“Atlanta had always been a base for a lot of Nigerians, I don’t know why. So, my mom did her master’s in Clark. America has always been a thing for my family. We’ve always been coming out here”…..CONTINUE READING
