Governor Yusuf ordered arrest of deposed Emir
In a statement on Saturday, May 25, Governor Yusuf alleged that Ado Bayero was smuggled into the state over the night and caused chaos.
The statement partly read:
“The former Emir was smuggled into Kano city last night in an attempt to forcefully return to the palace two days after being deposed by the Governor.”
Kano royal tussle: How security agents responded
However, the security agents in the state said the governor’s order would not be carried out, citing an existing court order that restrained the Kano state government from reinstating Muhammadu Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano.
According to Daily Trust, security agents in the state were spotted at the mini-palace of the Emir of Kano, where the deposed Ado Bayero had settled down amid the growing tension in the state.
Governor Yusuf sacked Bayero on Thursday, May 23 and announced the reinstatement of Sanusi on Friday, May 24, before the court order was subsequently issued.
Deposed Emir Ado Bayero returned to Kano
Legit earlier reported that Ado Bayero, the deposed Emir of Kani, has reportedly returned to the state in a celebrated manner with tight security.
The video of the deposed Emir returning to the state emerged on Saturday morning, and he was said to be returning to the palace.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano deposed the Emir and four Emirs and announced the reinstatement of Muhammadu Sanusi II, who was deposed by ex-Governor Abdullahi Ganduje in 2020.
