In a statement sent by his media aide, Mr. Ferdiand Ekeoma, the Governor-elect accused the state government of employment racketeering in state ministries and parastatals, with employees supplied with backdated letters.

According to the statement, this conduct is intended to lay landmines for the state’s incoming Labor Party government.

“Confirmed reports supported by empirical data demonstrate that there is currently a bazaar of unlawful employment taking place in several ministries and parastatals, with all so-called employees receiving backdated employment letters.” This conduct, which is aimed at laying an unnecessary landmine for Alex Otti’s incoming government, has demonstrated how disloyal and selfish the offenders are.”

However, Ememanka, who stated that there is no type of employment racketeering in the state public service, reminded the Governor-elect that the state has a sitting administration with executive powers to conduct its affairs.

“During this time frame, the Governor is still authorized by all laws in this country to wield the full powers of his office, including the authority to issue employment waivers into the state workforce if he so wishes.”

“Dr. Otti will have four full years, beginning on May 29, 2023, to exercise the powers of governor of Abia State.” He should wait his turn.
