One of the resident of the community told THE WHISTLER on Monday that the abductors insisted on the initial N500m ransom which they demanded, adding that all pleas to reduce the amount have been rejected.

The assailants, numbering over 20, executed the abduction on Wednesday, December 28, 2024, at approximately 11:20pm.

They infiltrated the neighborhood, located less than two kilometers from the Kuduru Police Station in Bwari, and operated for about 30 minutes.

Mohammed, a resident of Kurudu, revealed to THE WHISTLER that negotiations took place, but the kidnappers dismissed the N20 million raised by the community as inadequate.

“They called us jokers and insisted on N500m,” Mohammed stated.

He added that, “The kidnappers even specified N150m for the release of the woman who was kidnapped with her two children and asked us to bring N50m each for the other people that were kidnapped.

“We are confused now because we don’t know what next to do. All our pleas to them to reduce the ransom to N3m per abductee have been rejected. It’s a very sad situation for us.”

The assailants reportedly entered on foot through the bushes and escaped through the same route.

Meanwhile, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command announced on Sunday that they successfully rescued a family kidnapped in the Bwari area on January 2.

The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, in a statement said that the victims were safely reunited with their families.

The rescue operation was executed by the recently created Special Intervention Squad in collaboration with the Nigerian Army, as stated in the official release by the FCT Police Command.
