The Delta State Police Command has apprehended members of a syndicate specializing in stealing phones from unsuspecting tricycle passengers in Asaba, the state capital. According to a statement released by SP Bright Edafe, the command’s spokesperson, on March 25 at approximately 6:15 pm, Ezeugwu Akanso reported at ‘A’ Division Asaba that he had boarded a commercial tricycle with registration number GWK 758 VC and Delta State code number 12335B at Konwea Plaza Nnebisi Road Asaba to Okpanam Road Asaba. He noticed his phone was missing and raised an alarm, prompting sympathizers to help him chase and apprehend the suspects....CONTINUE READING
“The suspects, identified as Collins Akpinoba, 27 years old, and David Paulson, 38 years old, were immediately handed over to the Police. Preliminary investigation revealed that both suspects specialize in robbing unsuspecting passengers, and some victims have identified them. Investigation is ongoing,” Edafe said.
In another incident on March 27 at about 6 pm, the Anti-Crime patrol team from Agbor division, during a stop and search operation, intercepted John Chikwuji, 25 years old, a native of Ekuku-Agbor going from Agbor to Ekuku-Agbor community. Upon searching the suspect, a Beretta pistol was recovered. Investigation is ongoing.
Edafe further stated that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, has reiterated that fighting criminals is the primary goal of the Command. He warns all criminals to refrain from illegal activities, and if they fail to do so, they will face the full might of the law. He assures that the command is making every effort to address the severe social challenges and detrimental impacts of violent crimes.
