Constant nausea.

Ginger seems to be a very effective way to stop feeling sick. It might help people feel better after certain kinds of surgery by making them feel less sick and less likely to throw up. Ginger might also help with the sickness that comes from chemotherapy, but more research with real people is needed.

It may, however, work best for morning sickness and other types of nausea caused by pregnancy.

Infections

Gingerol can help keep you from getting sick. Scientists have found that ginger extract can stop the growth of many different kinds of bacteria.

A 2008 study found that it works very well against the bacteria in the mouth that cause gingivitis and periodontitis. Both of these gum diseases cause swelling and pain. The respiratory syncytial virus can also cause infections in the lungs, but fresh ginger may help stop them (RSV).

Osteoarthritis.

Osteoarthritis, or OA, affects a lot of people. It is caused by the breakdown of the body’s joints, which can cause pain and stiffness in the joints.
