The funeral service, which was witnessed by Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State, former governor Peter Odili, his wife, Mary, among others, took place at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Opobo.

The Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike and his major political allies were conspicuously missing during the event.

Governor Fubara recently fell out with Wike, which prompted a political crisis in the state.

Apart from Odili, other key stakeholders in Rivers, who joined the governor include his deputy, Prof. Ngozi Odu; Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Simeon Amadi; Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo; former National Chairman, PDP, Prince Uche Secondus; former Minister of Transport, Dr. Abiye Sekiob; Senators John Azuta Mbata and Lee Meaba; former Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Austin Opara; Dr. Sam Sam Jaja; Chief Adokiye Amesemieka; National and State Assembly members, Glory Emeh.
