I had no idea how to run Facebook ads
I had no clients or referrals
I had no idea how to get my first client

However, I still managed to get a few clients to pay me within the first few months.

When I first started, my goal was twofold:

I need to get my first few clients
I need to do it without spending a penny

Hence, I used different methods of cold outreach which did not need any initial upfront cash. In this article, I am not going to be breaking down what to say instead I will be talking about where to find people and the different outreach methods that I used.
Before you start — Niche it down

The first thing you need to do before you start outreaching, is to decide who your ideal client is. This is the most important step. You cannot pitch to everyone, you need to narrow down your prospective clients.

If you’re a writer, who is your ideal client? Is it a social media influencer looking for a ghostwriter or is it a big corporate entity looking for someone to write posts on Linkedin?

If you’re an agency, planning to run Google/Facebook ads, who do you want to run ads for? There are a plethora of marketing agencies doing Facebook/Google ads and SEO. Why would someone work with you?

The best way to differentiate yourself is to niche down. Here’s a quote that summarizes what I’m trying to say:
