According to a report by Vistanaij Media, Funke Akindele disclosed in an interview with media personality Toke Makinwa on her podcast, Toke Moments, how Iyabo Ojo and Sikiratu Sindodo played instrumental roles in her rise within the Yoruba film industry during her early career.
Funke shared that she faced stereotyping and was limited to minor roles due to societal perceptions of her physical appearance, which some considered unattractive. She recounted a heartbreaking incident where she broke down in tears in a restroom after being deceived with a leading role that turned out to be a minor role.
Fortunately, Sikiratu Sindodo and Iyabo Ojo came to her defense, standing up against the producers who looked down on her. Iyabo even went the extra mile to treat her to meals from eateries whenever she faced rejection on set.
