Obinyan, a staunch supporter of the Labour Party’s candidate in the 2023 presidential election, Peter Obi, took to his Facebook page to express his opinion. He stated, “This is not about Tribalism but a mere statement of undisputable FACT: ‘Good or bad. Yorubas are the MOST Tribalistic in Nigeria.’”
As of the time of the report, the post had attracted more than 3,300 comments and 2,100 likes.
Opinions on Obinyan’s statement were divided, with some agreeing and others vehemently disagreeing. Dele Farotimi, also a supporter of Peter Obi, was among those who disagreed. Dare Taiwo challenged Obinyan’s perspective, pointing out the Yoruba’s inclusivity and tolerance towards others.
