JUST IN: Suspected Murderers Of Enugu Traditional Ruler Arrested

The Enugu State Police Commissioner, CP Kanayo Uzoegbu, stated this in Enugu on Tuesday when he paraded some suspects. Hé said the operatives of the state police command serving in Uzo-Uwani Police Division, on January 18, 2024 at about 4pm, arrested the suspects.

He gave the names of the suspects as Henry Ikenna Okafor, 29; Charles Eze, 23; Amobi Okeke, 29; Chukwuma Agu, 38; Emmanuel Udealor (aka “Alhaji”), 44; Obeta Friday, 21; Ekwe Ikechukwu, 35;
Ugwu Osmond Osita, 49; Nzekwe Chukwuebuka Fidelis, 25; Kingsley Aniche, 35, and Ikowa Isaiah, 29.

The CP said, “The first two suspects, who identified and led the operatives to the arrest of the other suspects, confessed to having carried out several criminal acts of kidnapping, armed robbery and murder within the Adani community and other parts of Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area.”

He said they also confessed to the kidnapping of one Honourable Vitalis Nwankwo and four others, who were later released after the payment of ransom.

They were also behind the attempted murder of the Chairman of the Neighbourhood Watch Group in the Adani Community, CP Kanayo said.

He advised criminals to turn over a new leaf, adding that security operatives would make Enugu State “more uncomfortable for them and their activities”. He further cautioned peddlers of fake news in Enugu State to desist forthwith, as the police would not hesitate to deal decisively with anyone found wanting, in accordance with extant laws, particularly the Cybercrime Act.
