The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, who made this known in a statement he posted on X (formerly Twitter), said the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) sealed the hotel after its management failed to heed several warnings and guidelines issued to it.

Wahab said the hotel management violated the terms of a Memorandum of Understanding it signed during earlier meetings with LASEPA which included to cease noisy activities by 10 pm daily.

“Despite receiving multiple warnings and agreeing to guidelines in previous meetings with the agency, the hotel failed to comply with stipulated noise levels.

“The decision to seal the hotel was made and carried out today, 27th December 2023 after it violated the terms outlined in a Memorandum of Understanding signed during earlier meetings, which included commitments to cease noisy activities by 10 pm and adhere to approved noise levels,” he said.

The latest lockdown is coming just days after the closure of Quilox Night Club, located in Victoria Island, for same safety and other environmental infractions.

A statement by the regulator said the Quilox Club was sealed by the enforcement team of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) and the Lagos State Safety Commission (LSC) in contravention of environmental and safety infractions.

It recalled that LASEPA and LSC had in an earlier issued release, warned social centres to ensure that their operations do not affect the safety and well-being of other citizens and vowed to sanction any erring facility.
