Charlene’s husband, Clyde Msini, was allegedly a rhino poaching middleman and was assassinated on March 26. The couple’s deaths have left the family living in fear. Mnisi’s brother, Charles, told Sowetan that the family was waiting for the police to give them an update on the investigation.
Mnisi was set to appear in court on April 17 to face charges including rhino poaching and money laundering. He was installed as chief of the Mnisi Tribal Authority just five months ago. The motive for the shooting is not known, and no arrests have been made. Charlene’s twin brother, Blessing, was shocked and saddened by her death. He described her as a very nice person who had a lot to offer.
The murder of Charlene and Clyde Mnisi is a tragedy for their family and a blow to the community they served. The police must do everything in their power to find those responsible and bring them to justice. Violence and crime have no place in our society, and we must all work together to make our communities safer for everyone.
