Speaking in a live session on his Instagram page on Wednesday, May 17, Rufai who has shared another case of police brutality on a citizen on his social media handles called on the police to allow the law to take its course.
According to him, the police must stop victimizing the singer.
“The police goes ahead, not allowing the court to do its work and they are releasing mugshots. That is very very bad. We all remember what was said about police officers releasing the faces of suspects and the talks about 21 days.”
“I mean, if the man has done wrong, let him go face the rigors of the law but when you are trying to victimize the man then all the things people are fighting against and all that people are talking ill about and condemning Seun for is what the police are doing,” Rufai said.
Meanwhile, an eyewitness who spoke on condition of anonymity said that officers of the Lagos State Police Command on Tuesday, stormed the Akin Osiyemi residence of Seun, off Allen Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos for a search, seizing his wife’s mobile phone in the process.
According to the eyewitness, the policemen took the musician along during the search, while they combed his apartment.
The eyewitness said, “The police officers invaded Seun’s home here on my street, Akin Osiyemi, and he was in the vehicle with them while in handcuffs. They stormed and searched his apartment. But they also seized his wife’s phone before driving off with Seun Kuti.”
Meanwhile, an impeccable police source at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, Lagos, told our correspondent that the Afrobeat legend was humiliated and threatened by aggrieved police officers while detained in a police cell on Monday…..CONTINUE READING
