Samuel, on behalf of his group declared their support for the State House of Assembly, hailing the actions of the legislators which he says are necessary to close administrative gaps and check the excesses of the executive arm of government.

He advised the governor not to be hoodwinked by the advice of those he called praise-singers, saying they will abandon him in difficult times.

“We advise Governor Siminalayi Fubara to without delay present the 2024 appropriation bill to the properly constituted Rivers State House of Assembly and stop further spending without any known law.

“Ultimately, we throw out support to the Rivers State House of Assembly ably led by Rite Honourable Martin Chike Amaewhule. Our decision is borne out of their resolve to stand by the rule of law and not to be held as hostage by the executive arm of government.”

While appreciating President Tinubu for his intervention in the Rivers political crisis and his administration’s effort to recover the economy, the youths urged the president not to be excited by every support that is voiced from Rivers state towards his administration.

Their case in point was the recent declaration of support for President Tinubu by some elders of the Peoples Democratic Party, led by a former Minster of Transport, Abiye Sekibo who was the Director General of the Atiku Campaign Organization in the state in the last Presidential election.

Others who joined Sekibo to declare support for Tinubu and Governor Fubara were former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Austin Opara; ex-PDP National Chairman, Uche Secondus; ex-governorship aspirant, Celestine Omehia; former Deputy Governor, Tele Ikuru among others.

“We also advised the presidency to be very careful about the subtle means through which some said Rivers elders intend to come into government through the back door,”Chairman of the youth faction opined.

The youths also appreciated the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike for his leadership which they say has attracted more federal appointments among other benefits to Rivers than any other state of the federation.
