The State Security Adviser, Retired Commander Jerry Omodara gave the warning while speaking with newsmen in Lokoja on Monday.

According to the State Security Adviser, some political parties are already overheating the polity despite the fact that campaigns are yet to commence according to the electoral guidelines for Kogi State gubernatorial election.

He accused the governorship candidate of the PDP of campaigning in Ayeteju Kajola ward, Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area last Friday, calling on INEC to sanction him to serve as deterrent to others.

He also urged security agencies to investigate the videos on social media where the PDP flag bearer threatened the immediate past Treasurer of the party, Mr. Alfred Bello who recently resigned from the opposition party.

According to him, the state government will not tolerate any acts or statements from politicians and their supporters capable of heightening tension ahead of the governorship polls.

While stressing the need for political parties to ensure issue based campaigns when campaigns for the governorship election commence, Commander Omodara enjoined them and their candidates to restrain their followers from causing violence in the state.
